Ultimate Takeaway
  • The well-being of our people is always our #1 priority.
  • As coronavirus cases continue to increase, we are recommending that employees work from home to protect themselves and their families.
  • Our Business Continuity Team is closely following the situation, and our customers will continue receiving the same award-winning support they’ve come to expect from us.

At Ultimate Software, the well-being of our people is always our top priority. Like you, we’ve been closely monitoring the latest news about the COVID-19 (coronavirus). As cases continue to increase both nationally and globally, we are working to ensure the safety of our people and our community, as well as the ongoing support of our customers. New updates are happening on a day-by-day—and sometimes minute-by-minute—basis, and we will continue to adapt our policies and best practices as needed.

Precautions we’re taking

First and foremost, our employees are our family. We are grateful to have a team of incredibly talented, hard-working people dedicated to serving our customers and redefining industry standards. When we opened our doors in 1990, we made a promise to all employees that we would always put our people first. We will always honor this commitment to our people.

As part of our response to COVID-19, we have recommended that all employees able to work remotely begin to do so indefinitely. Many of our teams—such as those in Toronto, California, New York, and Europe—have already been doing so. Our offices will remain open to accommodate employees and contractors in roles that require on-site participation, but by limiting the number of employees in our offices, taking extra safety precautions (such as additional cleaning of workspaces and common areas), and increasing social distancing, we aim to protect our people, their families, and our local communities while continuing to offer seamless support to our customers. We are also suspending all work-related travel and are requesting that employees refrain from physically attending work-related conferences, meetings, and gatherings of more than 25 people.

Ultimate has always been a staunch supporter of remote work and 40% of our people already work remotely full time. Most of the remainder enjoy flexible schedules and work from home on a semi-regular basis. As a result, our people are experienced and prepared to support the needs of our customers, partners, and vendors virtually. We have the utmost confidence in them and their ability to continue providing best-in-class products and services while protecting themselves and those they love. (Here’s the latest research on the State of Remote Work.)

We’re here to help

Our Business Continuity Team is closely following the situation, and Ultimate is available and ready to help you. Our customers will continue receiving the same award-winning support they’ve come to expect from us.

Where can we get updates on what Ultimate Software is doing when the Senate and President pass new bills that would affect Social Security, Unemployment Compensation, State Paid Sick leave requirements?

      Hi Jo,

The Compliance Advisory Team regularly posts updates on legislative and regulatory changes through the “Compliance Connections” community group. We encourage our customers to subscribe to this group through the Customer Success Portal. Please let me know if you have any other questions, and thank you!

Great updates on Ultimate’s approach during this time. How are you handling child care for employees once the all clear is given to return to work yet schools and daycare centers may remain closed for the year?

Thank you so much for your comment and for reading, Dave! So much is unknown at this time, it’s difficult to predict much of anything. I have a five-year-old at home and all of us Ulti-parents are being fully supported and encouraged by our managers, peers and leaders. We are all in this together and will figure out next steps as everything unfolds!
