Today’s a Great Day to Make a Difference — #12DaysofHCM

Service in our community has been a core part of Ultimate Software’s “People First” culture from day one. We believe giving to be our greater calling at Ultimate, and we encourage our employees to find new ways to serve others, both at work and away from the office (that includes providing all employees with three paid days off each year for charitable giving).

This year, we were extremely proud to partner with nonprofit organizations Feeding America (an Ultimate customer) and Rebuilding Together (teaming up with the Miami HEAT) to co-host two National Weeks of Service.

Over the course of a week in June, hundreds of Ultimate employees volunteered at over 25 Feeding America-affiliated food banks near our offices in South Florida, Georgia, and California, as well as in several U.S. cities—from Orlando, Charlotte, and New York to Houston, Phoenix, and Los Angeles—to accommodate our virtual employees. We also had a team of employees who served in Toronto, partnering with Daily Bread Food Bank. Together, our people sorted more than 200,000 pounds of food and packaged over 140,000 meals to distribute to families in need across America.

Then, in October, we joined the HEAT and Rebuilding Together to help improve the lives of low-income homeowners throughout our local communities in South Florida; San Francisco and Santa Ana, California; and Atlanta and Alpharetta, Georgia. We spent four consecutive days painting, landscaping, and gardening. Even the HEAT’s mascot, Burnie, helped us complete the home-restoration projects.

The holidays are a time we often thinking about how grateful we are for all we have. Many pay it forward by volunteering and donating to charitable causes. If you haven’t had the chance to serve others this year, I wholeheartedly encourage you to do so. Invite your friends, family, and coworkers to join you. Make giving a routine part of your life, as you do with exercising, listening to music, or watching your favorite TV shows.

With giving, every little bit counts—and it’s never too late to start making a difference.
